To develop your reading skills, you will:

Reading

·         read and re-read a simple text to develop reading fluency.

Comprehension

·         answer questions to develop your comprehension skills.

Phonics

·         Revise all the sounds learned so far in zones 1-4

·         learn to read the soft consonant sounds /s/ & /j/ made with letters  ‘c’ & ‘g’.

·         practise reading words with  the soft consonant sounds /s/ & /j/ made with letters  ‘c’ & ‘g’.

·         revise blending beginning and ending consonant blends to read simple words.

·         listen to the phonemes produced with dipthongs oo/oi/aw/ou/ow/oy/au/ow

·         listen to the phonemes produced with vowel sounds ar/er/ir/or/ur

·         practise  reading words with sounds ar/er/ir/or/ur

·         listen to the phonemes produced with vowel sounds air/ear/our/all/or/ew/oor/are/ea/oar/al/ea/ue/ea

·         match the picture vowel sounds air/ear/our/all/or/ew/oor/are/ea/oar/al/ea/ue/ea

Sight words

·         learn and practise identifying automatically by sight the following words that are used in high frequency in texts:

To develop your writing skills, you will:

Spelling

·         revise identifying the correct letters on the keyboard to match the missing sounds in simple words

·         learn to spell more simple words that have ‘ai’ sounds

Grammar & Punctuation

·         convert numeric dates to full dates

·         match the written word names that rhyme
